Food Waste Action Week

Food Waste Action Week

Documation is delighted to announce their involvement with UK-based organisation WRAP, for Food Waste Action Week.

This years theme will be ‘Win. Don’t Bin.’ spreading the message of “how valuable food is in our lives, using up everything we buy saves money, time and the planet.” The campaign will run from Monday 6th to Sunday 12th March.

Wrap is a climate action NGO working around the globe to tackle the causes of the climate crisis and give the planet a sustainable future. Established in the UK in 2000;  WRAP now work in over 40 countries.   Jackie Bailey, Campaigns Manager at Love Food Hate Waste, said:

“We are delighted that Documation will be supporting Food Waste Action Week which highlights how reducing food waste can save households time and money and tackle the climate crisis. This year we’ll be focusing on making the most of our leftovers – a great way of winning in our ongoing battle against good food going in the bin. Thank you to Documation and our growing list of supporters for helping to get our message out there and helping us win the fight against food waste.”

Approximately 8-10% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions relate to food waste. By actively raising awareness of how you can reduce emissions by using up all the food that you buy, align with Documation’s pledge to become Net Zero by 2030. As part of the pledge, Documation measure and reduce the amount of carbon emissions they produce by adapting and updating the way they work in line with their ESG policies.

“Documation are always looking for ways to get the team involved in reducing their carbon footprint.  Food Waste Action Week provides a great initiative that’s easy to join in with and will make a difference both at home and at work.  As part of our pledge to be NetZero by 2030 we are constantly on the look out for innovative and accessible campaigns that we can support.  With the cost of food rapidly rising, understanding how to make the food we have go further is a brilliant way to help our team save money and the planet.”

John Wallace, CEO at Documation

Using the hashtag #FoodWasteActionWeek, Documation will be contributing to the campaign by sharing content throughout the week, providing examples of how the team can reduce food waste and in relation to the “Win. Don’t Bin” theme. Internally, the team will be provided with daily tips (provided by WRAP) on what they can do to use up all of the food that they have bought. In addition, we will be encouraging the team to share their favourite recipes through the company’s “green” Microsoft Teams channel, dedicated to sustainability.
