Documation sponsor 2 awards at New Forest Film Festival

On Saturday 8th June, Daniel Wilmot, Graduate Professional Services Consultant, attended the coveted New Forest Film Festival awards evening on behalf of the Documation team.

At the event, we were pleased to be sponsoring two categories:

  • Best International Music Short: Awarded to Andy Sowerby for ‘Scaramanga Silk – Life in the Faslow Lane’, a short film that makes you think twice about touching a scribbled chalk face on the street…

  • Zero Budget Short (for films from any category made for less than £100): The Derek, a trophy awarded to the winners of selected categories, was won by Libby James Watt, documentary maker on creative therapies in mental health rehabilitation, and her film ‘Forest Solace’.

Daniel said ‘’I thought the evening was well presented, there was a good structure and a friendly atmosphere. It was nice to see the hard work of the filmmakers pay off and to watch the winners of each category pick up their Dereks and awards. Everyone seemed grateful to be involved in the creative night and the celebrations. The films were interesting and enjoyable, whether a comedy, narrative, horror or music video, everyone was a winner.’’

The awards ceremony marked the start of a nine-day celebration of the film hosted by Film: New Forest. The festivities include; competitions, conventions, quizzes, workshops, Q&As and drive-ins alongside film screenings across 20 venues in the New Forest.

Documation is proud to be involved in sponsoring local community events such as the film festival. Celebrating creativity and art is a celebration of humanity, something that we are continually promoting. Congratulations to all the winners on the evening and to everyone who submitted a short film, the standards were very high.
